Greetings Fellow Authors,

Though the Baltimore Book Festival is sold out of vendor tables, we have space available. Are you looking to go to the Baltimore Book Festival, the Miami Book Festival, the Midwest Independent Booksellers Association Tradeshow or other literary events? Want to save big money on booth rental? Want to sell books even if you can not attend?

The Author Collective will be in attendance and selling books for our members. Call us today and see what we can offer!

Andrew McGuigan Comment by Andrew McGuigan on August 31, 2010 at 12:36pm
Hi ladies and gentlemen, Andrew McGuigan here!

I am currently working on a project called 'Cumbrian Cthulhu.' A collection of original Cthulhu mythos stories set among the picturesque lakes, mountains and coasts of North West England. Looking to get ten stories together as a community by the end of 2011, then look at publishing options.

Best of luck with your own stuff people, if you want to join in with Cumbrian Cthulhu, you are all warmly welcome!

I've always felt there is so much more you can do in a horrornovel thanthe common drama. It isn't just about blood and guts, but what's really in your head and the head of the reader. I tried to do just thatin my novel HEADWATERS (written under the pen name of John Creek). Still at it, my second love (besides my wife) is my word processor,.

Hello, all! Just thought I take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Terry. I write Dark Fiction/ Horror...by no means am I some talented artist, I've just always felt compelled to write, so I write. I've never been published (It is one of many goals, however) and am just here to network and receive feedback on my work. Thanks!
Edward Kendall Comment by Edward Kendall on July 9, 2010 at 10:05am
Hello Everyone:

Ed Kendall here.

My first (and only) submission was written under my pseudonym "Jack Wilkins" and published five years ago--a short story titled "When the Spirit Leaveth the Flesh," for Editor Paul Fry's Cold Flesh zombie anthology. This was back when zombie anthologies were rather novel, and not over-produced like they are now.

After being caught up in a career and virtually abandoning my writing over the past five years, health issues have knocked my ass right back in front of the word processor with blank screen and underused keyboard begging to become my friends again.

I am looking forward to it.

It's good to be here on writerface.com and rub elbows with all of you fine folks.

Just want to say hi and introduce myself. I'm Jenny, and I'm working on, amongst other things, a horror/thriller project. I've also written a fun little parody book, and I've had a few poems and one piece of flash literary fiction published.

Jumping in time, if done properly and necessary for the story, can be very effective.

Look at Slaughterhouse Five. Kurt Vonnegut jumps forward and back in time throughout the whole novel. You just have to be careful to make the jumps clear so you don't lose your readers.

Edit: Because I'm easily bugged, I've just realized I used the wrong word in by below response...

"Coarse" should have been "course".

That's what happens when you try doing this as soon as you wake up.
Jeremy Brown Comment by Jeremy Brown on April 25, 2010 at 1:28pm
Gary,

Maybe I'll go against the grain for saying so, but I don't think much of anything is *set in stone*. I've never been a fan of the belief that writing has some sort of rigid set of rules that one must abide by; I think that if you have a style, and you work well with it, these "rules" don't become important anymore. It's all about what you, as an individual, can do with your style and the story you're trying to tell.

If you need four leaps in time to cover the coarse of the story, I'd say to go for it. You've got two choices: do wrong by the story, or insult a few snobbish literary types by going against the grain. I don't know about you, but for me the story is always most important.
