I am a teacher. I teach English as a first and second language at Hoërskool Piet Potgieter in a little town in the Limpopo province of South Africa called Mokopane. Even though I have spent my whole life writing poems and short stories, my work has never left my desk drawer. I write articles for Ezine Articles and Associated Content. I enjoy writing about relationships and notes on poetry. My first book Pop-In Jay Pomp has been published and I have finished my second novel, Mareijke's Courage.

Publishing

I am looking for a publisher for my second book. I have no idea where to start. Schiel & Denver published my first children's novel. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to publish my second book with them. It feels terrible looking for another publisher, simply because I feel as if I'm betraying Schiel & Denver. It would be nicer if I could just pay the costs and carry on. I hope there will be a solution in the near future.

Disappointment

Today I had a very disappointing experience. Because I tend to dwell on the negative, I can't seem to fill my mind with any positive thoughts. It feels as if my whole world has stopped turning. What amazes me, is the power of my emotions. My head tells me to move on; focus on positive things. My heart has a will of its own.

Today I have been given an invisible crutch with which to walk. I have two choices: walk with it or stay where I am. I choose to walk with it. The crutch is going to hold me… Continue

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. In my case, I lead the children to the classroom, but I can't make them think. They come into the classroom: uniform diverseness. And there's the oxymoron. They look the same: all dressed in blue and that's where comparison ends. Each child has a thinking preference of his own and I have to accommodate all the children and all the thinking preferences. I'm very pleased to know that the brain has only four quadrants with which to contend… Continue

Information Fascination

I am totally fascinated with the powerful effect that information can have on our lives. We are living in the information age and it doesn't matter how we feel about information, we consciously and subconsciously absorb, process and give out information every day.

When I write my articles, I am in effect sharing information. Information is important. Information is knowledge. And knowledge is power. But we're constantly bombarded with so much information on a daily basis that we've learnt a new… Continue

Thank You

In a world filled with problems and strife, it seems as if there is very little for which to be thankful. People spend most of their day criticizing and complaining about everything that is substandard and people who are imperfect.

They take everything in life for granted and not much compels them to say thank you. Sometimes people do little things for others. In most cases, it’s usually only with the greater deeds that gratitude is sincerely expressed. What we forget to remember is that little… Continue

Living Life Now

We spend so much time throughout our lives dwelling upon the past and contemplating the future. What we forget to do is live for the present.

With all our goals and dreams, our minds are constantly ahead of us in time. And whilst there, we forget to seize the moment. We are so busy changing our circumstances in a mental labyrinth for the future that amazing opportunities pass us by ... and we're just too busy to notice.

In life we aren't taught to live for the present. Society is constantly pr… Continue
